| Description | This lovely rustic figurative Old Master landscape oil painting is attributed to Heinrich Wilhelm Schweickhardt, as indistinctly signed. He was a German born artist who settled in England in 1786 where he continued to paint. Indeed, this painting was painted in 1792 when he was living and working in London. He died there 5 years later aged 51. The composition, on a panel, is a figurative pastoral summer landscape with three haycarts, two in the middle ground being loaded and one leaving the field beyond. In the foreground other field workers are sat under the shade of a tree, resting and one playing with a dog. The colours are still vibrant and the detail and brushwork superb. This is a lovely pastoral 18th century oil painting and an excellent example of Schweickhardt's work Indistinctly signed and dated 1792. |

| Biography | Heinrich Wilhelm Schweickhardt (1746 Brandenburg -1797 London). Schweickhardt was a painter, watercolourist, engraver and draughtsman. he painted portraits, landscapes and landscapes with figures. He also created designs for tapestry. Schweickhardt was the pupil of Girolamo Lapis and produced etchings. He went to the Hague in 1775 and lived in London from 1786. His son, Lodevyk Schweickhardt, was an engraver. He died in 1797 in London. |
