Horses in a Landscape |
Description |
This lovely British Victorian oil painting is by noted animal artist Edwin Brown. Painted circa 1880 the composition is of several beautiful horses in the foreground along with sheep. Brown has perfectly captured their anatomy and character. To the right is possibly Warwick castle which Brown would have been familiar with as he grew up in Warwickshire. The animals are looking around, perhaps sensing a storm coming with a blustery sky above. A fine example of equine art with the addition of being set in an interesting landscape. |
