Painting of the Week - Jacobus Storck

Amsterdam Harbour with Figures
This superb Dutch 17th century Golden Age Old Master cityscape oil painting of Amsterdam is by noted artist Jacobus Storck. Painted circa 1670 and with excellent provenance, the composition is a Dutch Amsterdam harbour scene with boats and figures in the foreground, a crane and stately buildings beyond, all beneath a beautiful sky. The detail and reflections in the water are excellent. This is a wonderful example of a Dutch Golden Age painting and of Jacobus Storck's work.
