Description This charming oil portrait painting is by noted British Victorian artist George Wells. Painted circa 1880 we know the elegant sitter is Chlorinda but her relationship to Wells is unknown.  Chlorinda sits at a dressing table with a letter on her lap and appears lost in thought. A charming painting in a fine gilded Victorian Watts frame. Signed lower right.

Frame Housed in a gilt frame, 30 inches by 23 inches and in good condition.
Condition Good condition.
Biography George Wells (1842-1888). A painter of genre, literary subjects, portraits and landscape, Wells lived in London and Bristol. He exhibited between 1842 and 1888 at the Royal Academy, British Institution, Suffolk Street, New Watercolour Society and elsewhere.
