Description This charming British Victorian portrait oil painting is by noted portrait artist Gilbert Baldry. A half length portrait painted in 1892, the sitter is a young boy in a red coat with a large white collared shirt beneath. There is superb brush work and detail making this an excellent example of Baldry's work.

Biography Gilbert Baldry (1876-1928) was a Victorian born noted British portrait painter in oils. Many of his paintings of prominant figures are in National Thrust properties and museums and seldom come up for sale. His works include Louisa Matilda Scott, Mrs York (National Trust, Erdigg, North Wales), John Edward Courtenay Bodley (Balliol Colleague, Oxford) and William Hall Walker, 1st Baron Wavertree (Warranty Museum & Art Gallery) to name a few.
