Portrait of William Broom |
Description |
This striking Scottish Impressionist Edwardian portrait oil painting is by an as yet unknown hand. The sitter is William Broom who died in 1926. Mr Broom is painted seated, wearing his over coat and with his hat on his desk. He is wearing a ring on his little finger of his left hand - During the Victorian era, both single men and women uninterested in pursuing marriage could wear a ring on the little finger of their left hand. The brushwork has Impressionist hallmarks and there is tremendous detail in his face. A very intriguing portrait. |
