E Stott

Artist Name E Stott
Title Dog Waiting Patiently
Description This lovely Victorian oil painting is, we think, by British artist E Stott. The painting, painted circa 1880 is a portrait of a large dog. The artist is clearly a very talented dog artist and keen observer of dogs to capture this one's expression and posture so perfectly. The detail and colouring on the fur makes one want to touch it. The dog has abandoned his bone and is waiting with heighted anticipation, straining to hear or smell signs of his owner approaching the front door. Anyone who has a dog will know this is exactly what the loyal souls do. A real gem of a painting.
