Description This simply superb British 19th century portrait oil painting is attributed to circle of John Constable. Painted circa 1820 it is a sumptuous half length portrait of a lady in a short sleeved white dress with lace around her head. Her dark curls frame her pretty face. She is situated in a landscape. She is profile but turning towards the artist/viewer and smiling slightly. This is a charming British Old Master portrait oil painting housed in a stunning frame.

Biography John Constable, (1776-1837) RA was an English landscape painter in the Romantic tradition. Born in Suffolk, he is known principally for revolutionising the genre of landscape painting with his pictures of Dedham Vale, the area surrounding his home – now known as "Constable Country" – which he invested with an intensity of affection. "I should paint my own places best", he wrote to his friend John Fisher in 1821, "painting is but another word for feeling".
