Description This charming British Victorian portrait oil painting is by artist Harry Leslie Baldry. It was painted in 1887 when Baldry was based in London. The composition is a three quarter length portrait of a beautiful young dark haired woman is simple clothing. She is stood beside a basket of flowers she is selling and smiling at the artist/viewer. A lovely 19th century portrait oil painting and an excellent example of Baldry's work.

Biography Harry Lesley Baldry (1866-1890) was a portrait painter in oils. He was originally from Norfolk but his large family moved to Brighton when he was five. By the age of twelve, in 1881 the family were based in London at 12 Mornington Road St Pancras with the addition of 5 more siblings. Baldry married Florence Digby in 1890 and they had one son also called Harry, born at Hampstead. He worked as an artist throughout his life.
