This superb British 18th century Old Master oil painting is attributed to circle of noted landscape artist Richard Wilson. Painted circa 1750 it is a stunning river landscape with several women in the foreground on the right bank doing washing and a man approaching them through the water on the left. Beyond them is a bridge and town dwellings and a landscape beyond that. The water, figures and sky are all beautifully illuminated and the brushwork and details are superb. This is a fantastic British Old Master oil painting housed in a beautiful gilt frame with floral motif corners.

| Biography |
Richard Wilson RA (1714-1782) was an influential British landscape painter, who worked in Britain and Italy. With George Lambert he is recognised as a pioneer in British art of landscape for its own sake and was described in the Welsh Academy Encyclopedia of Wales as the "most distinguished painter Wales has ever produced and the first to appreciate the aesthetic possibilities of his country". In December 1768 Wilson became one of the founder-members of the Royal Academy. |
