This superb British Old Master portrait oil painting is attributed to circle of noted artist Michael Dahl. Although born in Sweden, Dahl lived and worked most of his life in England and painted numerous aristocrats and members of the royal family. This lovely waist length portrait is of a beautiful young woman in a red dress matching her red lips. Her facial features are superb and her brown eyes gaze at the artist/viewer, head slight turned. The dark background really emphasises her face and dress. This is a fantastic example of an Old Master portrait with such vibrant colouring.

Biography |
Michael Dahl (1659–1743) was a Swedish portrait painter who lived and worked in England most of his career and died there. He was one of the most internationally known Swedish painters of his time. He painted portraits of many aristocrats and some members of royal families, such as Queen Anne of Great Britain, Prince George of Denmark and the exiled Queen Christina of Sweden. |
