Description This absolutely charming Edwardian portrait oil painting is by noted artist Edward Francis Wells. Painted in 1908, the sitter is Brian de Lolme Bullock as a six year old boy. (See his details below artist's biography.) It is a standing half length portrait of Brian resting his hands on a post, dressed in a green sweater and red cap. A landscape cam be seen beyond him with cattle in a field. It's a very sweet portrait with great detail and brushwork and an excellent example of a British Edwardian oil painting by Wells. 

Signed and dated 1908 lower left.

Biography Edward Francis Wells (Exh. 1897-1938). Portrait and landscape painter. Studied slade school and RA schools (Creswick prize 1899). Travelled in Italty, Corsica and Switzerland. London address 1897 and 1938. Milton Abbas, Blandford Dorset 1914.

Sitter: Brian de Lolme Bullock (1902-1978) born in Yeovil, Somerset on 4 Jun 1902 to Harry Alfred Bullock and Pauline Mary Eleanor Adolphy. Brian de Lolme Bullock married Miriam E Bullock (Nee Bird). He passed away on 5 Sep 1978 in Gillingham Dorset.
