Description This lovely British Old Master portrait oil painting is attributed to the circle of Sir Henry Raeburn. Painted circa 1800, the sitter is seated, wearing a white dress and pictured with a landscape beyond. The details of her facial features and the brushwork are quite Impressionistic. A lovely example of a British Old Master portrait.

Biography Sir Henry Raeburn FRSE RA RSA  (1756-1823) was a British portrait painter and Scotland's first significant portrait painter since the Union to remain based in Scotland. He served as Portrait Painter to King George IV in Scotland.
