Artist Name H. Hardey Simpson (exh. 1882-1902)
Title Seagulls in a Harbour Seascape
Description This gorgeous and large British Edwardian marine oil painting is by noted artist H Hardey Simpson. Painted in 1906 it depicts seagulls and a black cormorant over an azure blue Cornish sea. In the foreground, on some rock with pink sea thrifth growing, stands the cormorant over looking the action. A number of seagulls are circling around over head while more gulls bob on the water near a beach with majestic cliffs. The detail, brushwork and colouring are superb. This is a really lovely painting of sea birds in action, full of life and an excellent example of Simpson's work.
