It was painted in 1845 and is of the south east coastal region of England. Several figures are going about their working day, in the lane, the fields and past the cottage on the beach beyond. The whole painting is bathed in summer sunshine under a clear blue sky and one can literally see into the distance for miles. A really lovely Victorian painting capturing a bygone era and a lovely part of England. Signed and dated 1845 lower right. |
