Title | Seascape with Gulls |
Description | This stunning British Victorian seascape oil painting is by noted artist James Moore. Painted circa 1879 it is a magnificent close up of huge waves breaking on the shore with gulls over head and a grey sky beyond. Moore has perfectly caught part of the wave just before it breaks, displaying that fantastic translucent green with white froth. The brushwork and detail are superb. Clearly Moore has spent hours studying the sea and waves to be able to so perfectly depict its motion and energy. A stunning example of a 19th century pure seascape, without the distraction of boats and rocks - just the majesty of the sea and gulls - and a lovely example of Moore's work. .
