The portrait dates to 1888-9 and is a really beautiful and sensitive portrayal of a young woman. There is great detail in her face and the ornate lace collar and wonderful colouring. A real gem.

|Biography||Gerald Edward Wellesley (1846-1915). British portrait painter who exhibited at the Royal Society of Portrait Painters in 1893.
One of 10 siblings and married to Ada Hamilton Wellesley, nee Martin in 1880. They had one daughter, Georgiana. Wellesley died in 1915.
