Title A Shady Pool
Description This lovely Scottish Edwardian Impressionist exhibited landscape oil painting is by noted artist George Whitton Johnstone. Painted in 1901 it was exhibited at the Royal Scottish Academy the same year, entitled a Shady Pool. The soft palette of muted greens and wispy brushwork are enchanting. In the mid ground, two young children stand by the pool which is full of reflections of the surrounding trees and sky. In the distance a waterfall cascades down and the stream flows into the pool.  A really stunning Scottish landscape oil painting  and an excellent example of Johnstone's work.
