Harry William Adams (1868-1947)

Artist Name Harry William Adams (1868-1947)
Title Hoar Frost - Winter Landscape
Description This superb British exhibited landscape oil painting, with excellent provenance, is by noted landscape artist Harry William Adams. Painted in 1925 it was exhibited at the Royal Academy London the same year, entitled Hoar Frost. The composition is a sunny winter landscape with a river and tall trees in the foreground and dappled sunlight on the frosty ground. Beyond are fields and hills in the background. The location is likely to be Malvern Worcestershire, where Adams lived and painted so we think it is the Malvern hills in the background. The details, such as the reflections in the river, the light  and perspective are superb. This is an excellent example of a winter landscape and of Adams' work. Another winter landscape by him, entitled Winter Sleep, hangs in the Tate Gallery in London.
