Biography Alfred Vickers Snr (1786-1868) was a self-taught landscape painter whose light and sparkling style has been compared to Boudin. Based in London, he exhibited at the RA 1831-68, British Institute (125 works)  and Society of British Artists and elsewhere. He painted landscape and coastal views in Wales, Derbyshire, Isle of Wight, New Forest Hampshire and some in Switzerland. He especially painted river scenes in a rapid, sketchy style using a range of pale greens which are distinctive. Works by him are in many major art galleries.
