Description This stunning Golden Age Baroque floral still life oil painting is attributed to a follower of Jan Van Huysum. It is actually part of a pair of paintings in beautiful matching fames and with excellent provenance, a previous owner being Rothchild. Wonderful realistic detail and colouring with large opulent flowers such as the peonies make this a superb Old Master Dutch floral.

Biography Jan van Huysum (1682 - 1749). Jan van Huysum was the last of the distinguished still lifepainters active in the Northern Netherlands in the 17th and early 18th centuries, and an internationally celebrated artist in his lifetime.  Although he specialised in flower still lifes, van Huysum also painted a few landscapes.
