|Description||This colourful still life Art Deco oil painting is by noted British artist Charles Buchel. Painted in 1932 it is entitled Still Life of Leeks. Although primarily known as a portrait painter, Buchel also painted other genre and this is an excellent example. A wonderful bunch of leeks, complete with roots and waxy leaves, are hung on a wall above a plate, candlestick and various fruit. Buchel has perfectly captured the changing colour of the leeks stem and leaves and the froth of white roots, all buzzing with life.
