This rather handsome British Old Master portrait oil painting is attributed to circle of Thomas Gainsborough. Painted circa 1780 the sitter is identified on the name plate as Archibald Ogilvy. It is a half length portrait of Ogilvy wearing a red coat and lace jabot and cuffs. The sensitive detail and colouring in his face is superb. This is a lovely British Old Master country house oil painting. |
