| Description | This gorgeous vibrant British floral oil painting is by noted Leeds artist Philip Naviasky. Painted circa 1939 the composition is a mixed floral arrangement in a doubled handled patterned Grecian vase. The arrangement is stood on a table with a vibrant yellow background. The flowers are mostly striking pink, red and white gladioli with some crocosmia and daisies. The details and brushwork are fantastic and the whole painting is a riot of colour. This is a lovely 1930's British floral oil painting and a great example of Naviasky's work. Signed lower right. |

| Biography | Philip Naviasky (1894-1983) was a well known painter in oil and watercolour of landscapes, still lifes and portraits. He was born in Leeds and studied at Leeds School of Art, the Royal Academy Schools, and at the Royal College of Art in London. Naviasky exhibited at the Royal Academy from 1914-54 and also at the Royal Scottish Academy, Royal Society of Portrait Painters, Royal Glasgow Institute, New English Art Club, and had several one-man shows. He painted the portraits of many prominent people and worked extensively abroad, including in France, Italy, Spain and Morocco. His work is represented in several public collections. Naviasky lived in Leeds for many years. |
