Description Richard Hollingdale, British Victorian genre artist painted this lovely family in a cottage interior. Painted in 1855, the colourful composition is six figures of all ages around a table with a little girl dancing to the violin.  The table in front of the hearth is laden with tea. There is superb detail in the figures and ornaments around the room. A happy colourful 19th century genre scene of family life and an excellent example of Hollingdale's work.

Biography Richard Hollingdale (fl. 1850-1899). Hollingdale was a British genre and portrait painter working in Stroud, Kent. He exhibited 26 paintings from 1850-1899 at the Royal Academy London and from 1854-1899 at the British Institute and Suffolk Street.
