Laslett John Pott (1837-1898)

Artist Name Laslett John Pott (1837-1898)
Title The Letter
Description This charming Victorian female portrait oil painting is by noted British artist Laslett John Pott. Painted circa 1865 it is a lovely portrait of a woman in a walled garden, holding a letter. She isnt actually reading the letter but gazing ahead as if contemplating its contents. Perhaps she is reflecting on Old Memories and this may well have been an exhibited work at the RA in 1865 under this title. There is lovely detail in her clothes and little basket of flowers on her arm. A thoroughly charming painting.
