| Title |
Yellow Chrysanthemums in a Vase |
| Description |
This superb British Old Master portrait oil painting is attributed to circle of Thomas Lawrence and is surely by a very experienced hand. Painted circa 1820 the composition is a half length profile portrait of a gentleman in a foreboding landscape dressed in traditional tartan dress. He rests one elbow on a wall and has his hand to his head, looking into the distance and smiling. His tartan is blue and green with red stripes running through it and he has a red scarf at his neck and feather in his hat. The detail in his facial features is superb as is the brushwork and vibrant colour. This is a superb Scottish Old Master portrait and clearly something special.
