Samuel John Barnes (1847-1901)
Samuel John Barnes (1847-1901) was a British landscape painter. He was born in Birmingham where he studied at the Birmingham School of Art and later in London. Some of Barnes's best paintings were of Scottish highland landscapes including highland cattle and red deer. He painted in the vicinity of Royal Deesside (Balmoral Castle) where his paintings were highly regarded by Queen Victoria and also by Queen Alexandra. Exhibited: Royal Academy 1884, 1886.
