Description This beautiful exhibited coastal seascape oil painting is by noted British artist Louis Burleigh Bruhl. It was exhibited at the Royal Society of British Artists in 1939 No. 394 and its full title is 'When that which drew from out the boundless deep turns again home'  by Tennyson. It is a large beach scene with two fishing boats resting on the sand, awaiting the turn of the tide. The location is probably Essex where Bruhl lived and painted from 1916-1942. The pink Impressionist tones in the sky and sand are just beautiful. A very tranquil painting. Signed lower right.
Provenance Exhibited at the Royal Society of British Artists in 1939 No. 394 and its full title is 'When that which drew from out the boundless deep turns again home' by Tennyson. Label verso.

Biography Louis Burleigh Bruhl (1861-1942) was an English landscape artist. Bruhl was born in Bhagdad, Iraq. He was educated in Vienna and England, and studied medicine at the London Hospital. Burleigh Bruhl was President of the Dudley Gallery Art Society. He was also president of the Watercolour Society. In 1915 he published Essex water-colours which contained a selection of his Essex scenes. His work included publicity posters for the Great Western Railway. He lived in Romford, Essex, from 1916 until his death in Watford in 1942.
