Title Portrait of a Lady in a Red Cape
Description A lovely British 19th century portrait oil painting atttributed to and ascribed to John Joseph Barker of Bath. Painted circa 1860 it is a half length portrait of a woman in a large black hat and red cape. The illumination and detail of her facial features is superb. It is also possible the the artist is Thomas barker of Bath who was noted for his similat works to Thomas Gainsborough.
 
Provenance Cambridgeshire estate.

Frame Housed in an ornate 18th century carved swept frame, 38 inches by 33 inches and in good condition.
Condition Good condition.
Biography John Joseph BARKER of Bath (1824-1904). Painter of genre and historical subjects, a member of the Barker family of painters from Bath. Exhibited at the Royal Academy from 1835 to 1866
