Description  This charming British Victorian dog portrait is by renown animal artist Philip Eustace Stretton. Painted circa 1900 it is a portrait of a spaniel sat upright on a green leather chair with wood paneling behind her. She has gorgeous gingery ears and freckles on her nose and legs. She is gazing at the artist/viewer with her big brown spaniel eyes that would melt any heart. Stretton has perfectly captured her soft fur and wet nose and the brushwork and details are just lovely. This is a gorgeous British Victorian dog oil painting and if you are a dog lover, this is the one for you.

Biography Philip Eustace Stretton (1865-1919) was a British animal and sporting painter working between 1882 until his death. He painted in oils and watercolour and exhibited at the Royal Academy between 1884 and 1904. Stretton was a follower of Sir Edwin Landseer, whose animal paintings had an enormous impact on Stretton.
