| Description | This superb British Victorian oil painting is by noted artist George Gasgoyne. It was painted in 1890 when Gasgoyne was 28 and living in Sittingbourne, Kent. The composition's focus is two beautiful horses in a watering place with a young man on one of them and a landscape beyond. The whole scene is bathed in soft twilight including a magical circle of light and reflections around the horses. It echoes the work of George Clausen and the British Impressionists. A stunning British Victorian Impressionist oil painting housed in a beautiful earlier period gilt frame. Signed lower left. |

| Biography | George Gascoyne (1862-1933). Painter and etcher born in Sittingbourne, Kent. Gascoyne studied at the Slade School of Fine Art under Alphonse Legros in the early 1880's and in 1900 married Ethel Slade King also a painter in London. He has held addresses in London, Kent and Somerset.
