Description A fine oil on canvas on board which dates to circa 1930 by noted Yorkshire based British artist Philip Naviasky.  It is a super Art Deco oil painting which depicts a full length portrait of a lady. Heavy by design it is a clever colourful tonalist painting which is full of vitality and Post Impressionistic colour. It is a fine period British Impressionist oil painting.

Biography Philip Naviasky (1894-1983) was a well known painter in oil and watercolour of landscapes, still lifes and portraits. He was born in Leeds and studied at Leeds School of Art, the Royal Academy Schools, and at the Royal College of Art in London. Naviasky exhibited at the Royal Academy from 1914-54 and also at the Royal Scottish Academy, Royal Society of Portrait Painters, Royal Glasgow Institute, New English Art Club, and had several one-man shows. He painted the portraits of many prominent people and worked extensively abroad, including in France, Italy, Spain and Morocco. His work is represented in several public collections. Naviasky lived in Leeds for many years.
