Description An original oil on canvas by the Scottish listed artist Charles Andrew Seller RSW. It depicts a fisher girl holding the spoils with the harbour in the background. A glorious Victorian genre painting of a young girl. It is signed and dates to circa 1890. A fine example of a late Victorian Scottish marine painting.

Frame Housed in a gilt gallery frame which compliments the picture. 40 inches by 30 inches. In good condition and ready to hang.

Biography Charles Andrew Sellar RSW (1856-1926. Sellar was a Scottish artist born in Edinburgh in 1856. He was a painter in oils and watercolour of landscapes and portraits, especially ladies. He graduated in law from Edinburgh university before turning to art. He had a studio in Perth and established a local reputation, painting east coast fishing villages and Perthshire views. His style is rather sweet with good colours and a nice sense of light. He moved to take up an artistic commission with the Dewar whisky family. He died in 1926 in Perth.
He was a committee member of Perthshire Artist's Association 1921-5  and elected RSW 1893.  He exhibited Royal Academy 2, Royal Scottish Academy 73, Royal Society of Painters in Watercolour 63, Royal Hibernian Academy 2, Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour 1, Aberdeen Artists' Society 1886-1923, Royal Society of British Artists 1, Glasgow Institute  20, Walker Gallery Liverpool 7, mostly from 11 Charlotte Street Perth.
