Description |
This masterful portrait oil painting is Continental School, possibly late 17th century. It is by an unknown but clearly very skilful hand and warrants more research. The painting is of a young woman in a beautiful gown and jewellery standing gazing at the viewer. In her arms she hold her dog, a lovely King Charles Spaniel. There is something very charming about the intimacy of this portrait in that she has been portrayed not just with, but actually holding her dog to her heart. There is great detail in every aspect of this fine painting which dated to circa 1680. |
