Title Afternoon Tea
Description This superb Edwardian portrait oil painting is by noted Scottish artist Francis Wilson. Painted in 1907 it was exhibited at the Glasgow Institute that year entitled Afternoon Tea. The painting is a full length portrait of a seated lady in a long brown coat and hat. One had is in a fur muffler, the other holds a china cup of tea. Next to her is a bamboo octagonal table with slender legs. Upon it are a wonderful, completely un matching teapot, milk jug and sugar bowl painted in great detail with the light gleaming on them. On the wall behind is a painting of a Japanese woman in a Kimono. The compositional balance is very pleasing to the eye, making this an excellent example of Scottish Art and Wilson's work.
