Description | A large oil on canvas of boating on the Thames in London by Margaret Evangeline Wilson. It depicts The Strand on the Green. This was an exhibited work at the Royal Academy in 1940 and the Exhibition of Eminent Living Artists in 1945 at The Russell Cotes Art Gallery in Bournemouth. A stunning quality oil painting housed in a super frame. An exhibited work, it retains the Bourlet label verso. Wilson also exhibited at the Paris Salon and won the Medaille d'Or there in the 1930’s. This painting dated to the 1920-1930s and is a magnificent view of London Thames. |

Biography | Margaret Evangeline Wilson (née Beard) (1890-1977) continued her academic studies after attending the Royal Academy through sojourns and campaigns in Paris and Italy. She exhibited widely, including at the Royal Academy, Walker Art Galleries in Liverpool, Royal Society of Portrait Painters, the Royal Scottish Academy, Society of Women Artist and at the Paris Salon. Works by the artist may be found at the London British Museum and Victoria and Albert Museum, also in London. |
