Description | This stunning, vibrant Scottish Impressionist seascape oil painting is by noted female artist Katherine Hill Wingate. Painted circa 1915 the work depicts an Arran seascape in Scotland and shows influences of the Scottish Impressionists such as McTaggart. Wingate has made superb use of heavy impasto and bold brushwork and the palette of blues and orange is fantastic. A fine Scottish Impressionist marine seascape with beautiful colour and light by female artist Katherine Hill Wingate and an excellent example of her work. Housed in its original stunning ebonised ripple frame. Signed lower left. |
