An original oil on canvas portrait by British artist Gerald E Wellesley. The portrait dates to the Edwardian period and depicts a bold British Pre-Raphaelite portrait of Nora H Palairet, in a lace beaded dress against a floral background. She was the second wife to Charles Henry Palairet and step mother to Sir Michael Palairet (1882-1956) who was a British diplomat and minister. The portrait is housed in a Watts gilded oak frame of the period. Signed upper right and dated 1901-5. |

Biography |
Gerald Edward Wellesley (1846-1915). British portrait painter who exhibited at the Royal Society of Portrait Painters in 1893. One of 10 siblings and married to Ada Hamilton Wellesley, nee Martin in 1880. They had one daughter, Georgiana. Wellesley died in 1915. |
