Description This striking oil on canvas painting is by Irish artist Gladys Nolan and was  painted circa 1930. This Post Impressionist view is of Istanbul, Turkey with the spires of the iconic Blue Mosque and other buildings in the background. In the foreground are figures walking in a park area with stunning purple trees that may be Eastern Red Buds or Cercis Canadensis. In the midground is a hill - possibly one of  'The Seven Hills of Istanbul' or Constantinople as it was previously known. Wikipedia actually describes all 7 hills but we are unable to identify our particular hill. A charming painting by a superb 1930's female artist.
