Biography | Charles Henry Passey (1847-1898) was born in Shelton, Near Hanley, Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire, the son of Edward and Maria Passey, and was baptised at St. Mark's Church in Shelton. His father was a commercial traveller and the family soon moved to London. He married his wife Helen Samuel in 1878 and in the 1881 Census, they were living at 49 Bromfelde Road, Clapham and Charles was listed as an Artist Landscape Painter. He died in 1898 in Hampstead aged just 50. According to Graves Dictionary, he exhibited 4 paintings in London exhibitions between 1878 and 1885. There are 2 of his paintings in the National Collection, 1 in Guildford and 1 in Salford Museum and Art Gallery. |
