Biography | John Brandon Smith exhibited his work regularly at the Royal Academy in London from 1860 until 1874. His favourite subjects were waterscapes, landscapes of Scottish and Welsh rivers and especially waterfalls and mountain lakes, sometimes including the figure of a local inhabitant on a bridge, or a fisherman beside a stream. He also painted views of various English counties. His themes are characteristic of the great Romantic trend in Europe. |
