Description This lovely Victorian genre oil painting is by noted animal artist Arthur William Redgate. Painted circa 1900 the scene is a farm horse having a drink at a water trough outside a tavern with a dog looking on. The location is around Castle Donnington, Leicestershire. A really colourful summer painting full of life and warmth.

Biography Arthur WIlliam Redgate (1869-1906) - landscape and figure painter who exhibited between 1860-1906. He was a member of the Nottinghamshire Society of Artists from 1881 and lived in Nottingham from 1880. Redgate was a respected British landscape painter of the late 19th century.
