Description A large stunning three-quarter length portrait of a young woman in a pink dress.  It is titled Jonne and was painted in 1935. This original oil on canvas in its fine original gilt acanthus leafed frame was painted by John William Schofield, a noted exhibitor of The Royal Academy. A beautiful flowing inter-war 20th century portrait of a young woman. It is in excellent condition and framed in a fine exhibition frame. This is a fine painting by a noted British listed artist and is a fine example of an early 20th century portrait painting.

Biography John William Schofield (1865-1944) was a landscape, portrait and flower painter. RBA 1903. RI 1917. He was born in Halifax and lived in London. He attended Westminster School of Art under Fred Brown and furthered his studies in Paris with Bouguereau and Lefebvre.

He exhibited Birmingham 9, Glasgow Institute 3, Arlington Gallery  10, Liverpool 15, Manchester 5, Royal Academy 29, Royal Institute 84, Royal Society of British Artists 134.
