Philip Naviasky (1894-1983)
Philip Naviasky (1894-1983) was a well known painter in oil and watercolour of landscapes, still lifes and portraits. He was born in Leeds and studied at Leeds School of Art, the Royal Academy Schools, and at the Royal College of Art in London. Naviasky exhibited at the Royal Academy from 1914-54 and also at the Royal Scottish Academy, Royal Society of Portrait Painters, Royal Glasgow Institute, New English Art Club, and had several one-man shows. He painted the portraits of many prominent people and worked extensively abroad, including in France, Italy, Spain and Morocco. His work is represented in several public collections. Naviasky lived in Leeds for many years.
