Description A Scottish Impressionist landscape oil painting by John Henderson. It dates to circa 1910 and  depicts an open and expansive landscape at harvest time.  It was possibly painted in Stirling as ther are other examples of his work which date to this period.This is a fine example of a 19th century Scottish Impressionist oil with good subject. The colouring of the landscape are particularly appealing.

Biography John Henderson (1860-1924) was a Scottish Glaswegian landscape and portrait painter and Director of Glasgow School of Art. John Henderson was the brother of the painter Joseph Morris Henderson RSA (1863-1936) and the son of the Scottish Glaswegian painter Joseph Henderson RSW (1832-1908). His sister, Marjory Henderson married the well known Scottish painter William McTaggart, who painted in 1894 a wonderful portrait of Joseph Henderson which was presented by the family of Joseph Henderson in 1925 to the Glasgow Museums.
